James Baroud Rear Awning — Rear Vehicle Hatch Shelter

THE James Baroud rear store Creates a sheltered space attached to the rear hatch of your vehicle, either as a complement to or alternative to a side awning. Ideal for cooking from the trunk, accessing your equipment without getting rained on, and creating a separate utility area from the sleeping area.

Dimensions 130x240cm: This awning is more compact than side awnings because it is positioned against the tailgate, creating a sheltered area of 3-4 m². Ripstop fabric, removable aluminum frame, tailgate attachment via straps and James Baroud anchor points. Compatible with most 4x4s and SUVs with vertical or semi-vertical tailgates.

What is its intended use?

Ideal for configurations where the kitchen area is set up in the vehicle's trunk (kitchen drawer, slide-out, Fridge): You work sheltered, at a comfortable height, without constantly going up and down. Also very useful on expeditions to create a technical space separate from the sleeping area, or for short bivouacs (1 night) where installing a full side awning is unnecessary.

Installation and maintenance

Installation takes 15-20 minutes: open the tailgate, position the fastening straps on the tailgate, unfold the canvas, assemble the frame, and tension it with tent pegs. To preserve: dry completely before storing, and store in a frost-free location.

We also do use the pickup in the forest, with brushes and stumps on its ways. So, we decided to replace the original skid plates with something sturdier. Almont4WD skid plates are sturdier than the original, definitely! All vulnerable parts are covered, there is one plain level from front to back, with no screws sneaking and ready to be torn off. The parts are to mount easyly, and vehicle maintenance still is an easy job, too. Almont4WD is an excellent choice for the one who need the ultimate skid protection.
